My Story
Hi, my name is Wendy Wells. I grew up swimming and doing water sports at the lake and the beach all my life. In June 2008, I became a lifeguard and swim instructor and have been one ever since. I take water safety and fun very seriously. I have taught swim lessons in a local public program, with a franchise, and also privately. Once I came across a video displaying the ISR Self-Rescue technique, I knew this program had to be the best. I had to learn how to teach ISR because it is the most effective and safest swim program.
In June 2014, I went to Puerto Rico for seven weeks to take part in the training course to become a certified ISR Instructor. The training in the water as well as the academics was very intense, nothing like I had ever experienced before. Each year I focus on my development to become a better and better instructor. I attend re-certification as well as spend time in the water with senior master instructors and visit fellow instructors as well.
In January of 2021 I went to Turks & Caicos for nine weeks to learn how to transition an ISR swim student into swimming strokes even at a very young age. I was amazed to realize how young a child can pick up all of the swim strokes and snorkeling.
In November of 2022, I returned to Turks and Caicos for three months to refine my stroke teaching technique to better serve all of my swim families.
In February of 2023 I will start teaching in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico as well!
I am passionate about children and I cannot imagine losing one. I am so glad I have been able to provide ISR lessons to the Rio Grande Valley since 2014 and I will continue to serve as many families as I can. I love that I am able to teach the ISR Self-Rescue techniques designed to help children survive should they find themselves in the water alone. And I love preparing little ones for a lifetime of fun, safe, enjoyment of the water!
